Trevor Wingrove Memorial Tournament

Coquitlam Minor Lacrosse Association’s Dogwood Tournament, a tradition since 1984, was renamed the Trevor Wingrove Memorial Tournament in 2011 to honour the admired lacrosse player Trevor Wingrove.  Trevor passed away in July of 2010, at the age of forty-two, after battling cancer.

The Trevor Wingrove Memorial Tournament takes place each Spring in the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex in Coquitlam, British Columbia. This annual invitational tournament showcases some of the best talent and teams from the PeeWee, Bantam and Midget A1 divisions (ages 10-16). Teams typically enter from greater Vancouver and greater Victoria. Teams from the BC Interior, Alberta (Calgary and Edmonton), and the United States (USBOXLA) have made longer journeys to play in a tournament that is renowned in the lacrosse community. Over twenty teams compete in a round-robin format to determine a champion and provide insight for the front-runners for the BC Provincial Championships held in late July.

Many of the players from this tournament will be recruited by US collegiate teams and go on to play in the British Columbia Junior A Lacrosse League, Western Lacrosse Association, Premier Lacrosse League, and the National Lacrosse League.
