2026 TREVOR WINGROVE MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT TO SHOWCASE PREMIERE LACROSSE TALENT IN COQUITLAM
Coquitlam, BC โ May 21, 2026 โ Anticipation is building as the 2026 Trevor Wingrove Memorial Tournament returns to Coquitlam from May 28 to May 31. Recognized as one of the premier showcases of elite youth lacrosse, this yearโs event will welcome 32 topโtier teams featuring standout players from British Columbia, Alberta, and the United States.
The competition will be fastโpaced across five divisions: U13 Coed, U15 Coed, U17 Coed, Female U13, and Female U15. A total of 32 teams are set to begin tournament play, including 21 from Lower Mainland communities such as Coquitlam, Burnaby, Ridge Meadows, Delta, Port Coquitlam, Langley, and New Westminster. Five teams will travel from Vancouver Island (Saanich, Juan de Fuca, and Nanaimo), along with one team from the Interior, two from Alberta, and three from the United States. It is an impressive lineup of talent and teams.
Celebrating its 41st year, the tournament, hosted by the Coquitlam Minor Lacrosse Association, continues to stand as one of North Americaโs premier A1โcalibre competitions. Renamed in 2011 to honour lacrosse great Trevor Wingrove, who passed away in 2010, the event consistently attracts elite teams and showcases exceptional talent. Behind the scenes, Tournament Director Adrienne Chow and a dedicated team of volunteers work tirelessly to ensure a seamless experience for athletes, coaches, and fans.
Many tournament alumni have gone on to compete at provincial, national, and collegiate levels, with several making their mark in the NCAA and playing professionally in the National Lacrosse League and the Premier Lacrosse League. The Coquitlam Jr. Adanacs captured backโtoโback Minto Cups in 2024 and 2025 with a roster built largely from local athletes who once competed in this tournament as minor lacrosse players, underscoring the eventโs role in developing topโtier talent.
Recognizing Excellence and Sportsmanship
Gait Lacrosse returns as the sponsor of the Trevor Wingrove Most Inspirational Player Award, presented to one athlete in each division who embodies sportsmanship, exceptional play, and the ability to inspire teammates. A premier name in lacrosse equipment, Gait Lacrosse, founded by lacrosse legend Paul Gait, is known for its innovation and highโperformance gear for both menโs and womenโs lacrosse. Trevor competed against Paul and Gary Gait throughout his minor, junior, and senior career, making this partnership especially meaningful.
The Vancouver Warriors Head Coach and General Manager Curt Malawsky, a former teammate of Trevorโs, will lead the Ridge Meadows Coed U17 team in this yearโs tournament, adding a personal connection to the event. Another of Trevorโs former teammates, Jeff Gombar, will coach the Port Coquitlam Coed U17 squad, further strengthening the ties between the tournament and Trevorโs playing legacy.
