COQUITLAM SET TO WELCOME ELITE LACROSSE TALENT FOR THE 2025 TREVOR WINGROVE TOURNAMENT

Coquitlam, BC – May 23, 2025 – Excitement is building as the 2025 Trevor Wingrove Memorial Tournament prepares to take centre stage from May 29 to June 1.  Known for showcasing top-tier talent, this year’s tournament will feature standout players from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and the United States.

The competition will be fierce across 5 divisions: U13 Coed, U15 Coed, U17 Coed, Female U15, and Female U17.  A total of 31 teams are set to hit the floor, including 22 from BC representing communities such as Coquitlam, Juan De Fuca, Port Coquitlam, Langley, Nanaimo, Ridge Meadows, Saanich, New Westminster/Burnaby, and Port Moody.  4 teams from Alberta (Calgary, Red Deer, & Edmonton), 1 from Saskatchewan, and 4 teams from the United States round out the impressive line-up.

Celebrating its 40th year, this elite tournament is hosted by the Coquitlam Minor Lacrosse Association and was renamed in 2011 to honor lacrosse great Trevor Wingrove, who passed away in 2010.  The tournament exclusively features top A1-calibre teams and is widely recognized as one of the premier competitions in the country.  Behind the scenes, Tournament Director Adrienne Chow and a dedicated team of volunteers ensure a seamless experience for players and fans alike.

Many tournament alumni have gone on to compete at provincial, national, and collegiate levels, with several making their mark in the NCAA and playing professionally in the National Lacrosse League and the Premier Lacrosse League. The Coquitlam Jr. Adanacs won the 2024 Minto Cup with a roster of homegrown talent that played in this tournament as minor lacrosse players.

Recognizing Excellence and Sportsmanship

Gait Lacrosse has returned as our sponsor for the Trevor Wingrove Most Inspirational Player Award. It is presented to athletes in each division who exemplify sportsmanship, exceptional play, and inspire their teammates.  A premier name in lacrosse equipment, Gait Lacrosse is synonymous with innovation and performance. It was founded by lacrosse legend Paul Gait and the company is known for designing top-tier sticks and equipment for both men's and women's lacrosse.  Trevor himself competed against Paul and Gary Gait throughout his minor, junior, and senior lacrosse career.

The Vancouver Warriors are back as a key sponsor.  Warriors Head Coach and General Manager Curt Malawsky is leading the Ridge Meadows U15 team in the tournament.  A former teammate of Trevor’s, Malawsky’s presence adds a meaningful connection to the event.  Loading Lacrosse, founded by professional players Jordan McBride and Tyrell Hamer-Jackson, is our newest sponsor and lacrosse’s newest brand.
